I'm charting my daily progress on
NaNoWriMo. Since you may or may not care, I'll kindly hide it behind
a cut. Thanks for taking the time. :)

Notes:- I wanted to cross the 120,000 word mark tonight, but I just couldn't quite make it. I kept getting distracted. Ah, well. Work was busy and I had Tuesday night critique group tonight.
- "H Is for Haunted" is complete at 6073 words. I had written myself into a hole. How would a vengeful ghost with the power to place thoughts in the minds of people punish someone to whom every depravity is already commonplace? The answer I arrived at is . . . plant only wholesome thoughts into the man's head, even when he's trying to be depraved. Deny him the gratification even of remembering his former crimes. I don't love the ending, but I have an outline of the story I want to tell and can fix it in rewrite. :)
- That reminds me of the old joke:
Masochist to sadist: "Hurt me!"
Sadist to masochist: "No."
- Worked quite a bit on "O Is for Oath of Service Eternal" today, as well. That's the one I'm writing as a court transcript, with witnesses for the plaintiff and the defendant. It's weirdly difficult to write it because it's very much like writing a script, where only the dialogue has to convey everything. But I know exactly where I'm headed and I hope I can get there without too much more difficulty. And if I have to type "Objection!" one more time . . . But hey, I get to play with not just one unreliable narrator, but several. And a lot of "He said, the Demon said" situations, as well.
- There are demons in three of my stories. They could be in a connected world.
- Of the unfinished stories, the ends are clear and near in Bard, Fangs, Oath, Quest, Waste, and Zombie. The ends are clear but a way off in Investigation (which is turning into a novella; I can feel it), Moons, and Xenolith. The ends are over the horizon and very fuzzy on Anchor, Skullcosm, and Vanish. Those are, oddly enough, the three I went into the day writing with absolutely no idea of a plot, but only a concept that sounded like it should have a plot.
- Unfinished stories: Anchor, Bard, Fangs, Investigation, Moons, Oath, Quest, Skullcosm, Vanish, Waste, Xenolith, and Zombie.
- Today I worked on: Oath, Haunted, Fangs
- Interesting things I had to look up: More stuff about court proceedings and terminology. Next time I write something about a topic I know zilch about during NaNoWriMo, slap me, please.
This table shows each story and how many words I have written on it, regardless of the daily count. Titles highlighted by blue ("SkyBlue") are stories that are "complete" (for certain values of "complete").
