Meme: 10 Questions from Bouillon de Culture via Inside the Actors Studio

I admit it openly: I love the show Inside the Actors Studio. Of course, the best part is often near the end when James Lipton asks the guest of the evening the list of questions most famously associated with Marcel Proust and (heavily) modified by Bernard Pivot (Lipton's idol) for use on his own talk show in France.

So I thought I'd start this meme (if it's been done, I don't know about it).



01. What is your favorite word?
Epiphany.

02. What is your least favorite word?
The non-word "mis CHEE vee us" -- The verbal equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard for me.

03. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
An evening out with friends, with plenty of laughter. OR an exceptional book with lots of "out there" ideas.

04. What turns you off?
Willful stupidity.

05. What is your favorite curse word?
I probably use "shit" more often than any other. Unless you count while I'm driving. While I'm driving, it's generally "You goddamned mother-fucking son of a goddamned bitch!" Or like that.

06. What sound or noise do you love?
At my mother's house at night in the summer, there are crickets and frogs and cicadas and the usual Southern Summer Night™ sounds, punctuated occasionally by a train going by in the distance. It's my most favorite sound in the whole world, that combination.

07. What sound or noise do you hate?
Children screaming for no apparent reason. Or unattended cell phones ringing.

08. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Writer, actor, singer, chef...something creative.

09. What profession would you not like to do?
You couldn't pay me enough to be a defense attorney.

10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"We have a white-and-orange cat here who has been waiting a very long time to see you."
