I mentioned in a post some time back that I occasionally get a medley of stuck songs in my head, and the reasons are varied and not always obvious, even to me. Well, while I was in the shower a little while ago, I suddenly realized I had another one in my head, and I have no clue where this one came from, or how the three pieces of music are related.
A-Ha's "We;re Looking for the Whales" from their second album, Scoundrel Days (yes, yes, yes...A-Ha had more than one album). Specifically, the chorus/refrain:
A snippet of one of Buffy's songs from the musical episode of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer (the episode was "Once More With Feeling") from towards the end of the episode where she finally reveals (in song form) that she wasn't in Hell when she died the previous season, but in Heaven...and Willow "rescued" her.
This third one I can link to the second one. In that episode of Buffy, there's a demon who is making everyone sing and dance and live their lives as musicals. He's played by a black singer/dancer whose name I can't recall and don't want to look up right now. Also towards the end, he does a song and dance number that reminds me of...
When the character of Raymond (played by Gregory Hines) is introduced in the movie White Nights, he is performing "Porgy and Bess" in Russian (because he's a defector now living in Siberia). Specifically, he's playing "Streetlife" and is singing, "There's a boat dat's leavin' soo-ooon, for New Yooooooork! Coooooome wid meeeeeee! Dat's where we belooooooong....Sistah!" to this Russian actress who hates his guts out. Something about his performance and the performance of the aforementioned "demon" in Buffy connects them in my overactive pattern-matcher.
No clues about the A-Ha connection, though. None.

We're looking for a little bewildered girlNonsensical, but catchy. :)
We're looking for a little bewildered girl
We're looking for the whales

There was no painThat piece.
No fear, no doubt
Till they pulled me out
Of Heaven
So that's my refrain
I live in Hell
'Cuz I've been expelled
From Heaven
I think I was
In Heaven
