Notes:

• Wrists hurt massively today, so I actually kind of hurried through the final section of the story. It's the only one so far that I think I might actually increase the length of in revision.


• "J Is for Jackpot" is complete at 3040 words, and is another one of the stories where I came up with a word and hoped something would come to me, and eventually it did. But when I sat down to write a science fiction story with an uplifting ending, what came out was a dystopian science fiction story.


• Not a single character in this is a WASP. They're all Asian, I think, although I wrote the story in English, they all had Asian last names and I surmised that they would be speaking in a number of languages.


• The idea I have for "K Is for Kiss" tomorrow, as it stands right now won't fill out even the required 1666 words. Unless something comes to me tonight, tomorrow may be a light day, especially if my wrists continue to hurt like they did today. Ow.


• Character names: Joseph Anakawi (main character), Jacquiline Yamato (love interest), Jasha (OK, this is actually a Russian name because part of it takes place in Russia), the Jackpot itself.


• Interesting things I had to look up: the word 'monad' is pretty much it. I'm quite partial to the concept of the Nashlantaham monad, which is a gigantic single city that is bounded by the locations of the old cities of Nashville, Atlanta, and Birmingham. I'm also partial to the ideas of 'pornies' and ''mersing.'


• Genre: Dystopian Science Fiction
