I'm charting my daily progress on
NaNoWriMo. Since you may or may not care, I'll kindly hide it behind
a cut. Thanks for taking the time. :)

Notes:- Wrists didn't hurt at all today.
- "O Is for Oath of Service Eternal" is another comical story, but I'm doing something entirely experimental with the format. I decided that I would tell the story of a demon who accidentally worded something carelessly and ended up promising to serve his summoner indefinitely . . . but told as a court transcript of the civil lawsuit the demon filed against the human. In the Trans-Dimensional Demon Court, of course.
- I ended up writing only 2077 words on this because I didn't get to start it until late in the day (lunch) because I got up late, because I went to bed late, because I was having horrible reflux. And then I had a busy day at work. And then I had writers group, and then dinner afterwards, and I ended up not writing anywhere near as much as I could on this story, but I am liking the format experimentation and the story itself. It turns out not to be easy to tell a story with no narrative or physical descriptions of any kind. Kind of like a script, but with no [Walks over to desk and picks up snowglobe, plays with it for a few moments, then places it back down, carefully aligning the corners of the base with the clean spot in the dust where it had originally sat.] Just the 'speech' parts of the screenplay. As a result of slow writing and no time to write, it is unfinished, but I don't think it'll be terribly long. Maybe a couple of witnesses for the plaintiff, a couple for the defendant, and then the jury and the judge make their determination.
- The other 570 words that I wrote were just after midnight last night when I finished "N Is for Nocturnal."
- With tonight's total (78699), I surpassed at the halfway point of this NaNoWriMo my final word count for last NaNoWriMo (78035).
- Character names: This was actually kind of hard, because, as you no doubt know, pursuant to the Demonic Name Privacy Act of 6243 BC (human reckoning), it is illegal to use a demon's full name in any context in which humans might see it and be able to use it to summon demons. So I was forced to use human words that approximate their physical characteristics, instead. All to protect the demons, you understand. So the Plaintiff in this case is Professor Ogrebreath, the head of human studies at the Trans-Dimensional University of Demons, Dimension 8331-J. His counsel is Ratpelt. The Defendant in this case is a human named Orson Mason Pritchard IV, polymath and demon summoner. His counsel is an ol' southern lawyer named William Raymond Clayton (Billy-Ray to his friends). The judge is the honorable Judge Snoutface. The first witness was Ogrebreath's boss, Grosswart. There will be others.
- Interesting things I had to look up: the format of a court transcript.
- Genre: Fantasy, with what I hope is some humor.
This table shows each story and how many words I have written on it, regardless of the daily count. Titles or letters in red ("tomato") are ones where I'm not sure, yet, what the story will be.
