NaNoWriMo Progress, Day 17

I'm charting my daily progress on NaNoWriMo. Since you may or may not care, I'll kindly hide it behind a cut. Thanks for taking the time. :)

Notes:

• "Q Is for Quest" started with only the barest notion of a beginning where an imaginative kid tells an inattentive mother that he's going out to slay a dragon and she says, "OK honey! But be back in time for dinner." And of course, the dragon is very real.


• I made it to 1557 words. Today was a hell day at work, so I didn't have a chance to write anything except at lunch and after dinner. But I didn't get a lot of sleep, either, so I basically had to just give up and call it a day on this one, unfinished. It's about half done. But I'm so tired I just can't write any more.


• Finished "P Is for Prey" after midnight, which is why I was up too late.


• Asked for help on Facebook for "R Is for Rite/Ritual" and got some great suggestions. What they don't know because they're probably tired of reading these updates, so they won't see this line, is that I'm going to use almost all of their suggestions, but in ways they might not suspect. Including the ivy, parsnip, and Elvis. :)


• Character names: Quentin, the boy. Bruiser, his trusty steed/Irish Setter. Quyntor, the young dragon (this may change). I haven't decided yet if there will be a princess involved, and if so, what her Q-name will be.


• Interesting things I had to look up: nothing, really. Just trying to describe things the way a child might see them.


• Genre: Contemporary Fairy Tale
