NaNoWriMo Progress, Day 19

I'm charting my daily progress on NaNoWriMo. Since you may or may not care, I'll kindly hide it behind a cut. Thanks for taking the time. :)

Notes:

• Had a hard time finding the story, today. I typed about half of it this morning and then . . . for the rest of the day I struggled to figure out where the story was. The idea was a good one, but I'm not sure yet that I have the story I want to tell.


• "S Is for SkullCosm" is not complete at 3672 words. I think it's about half done or so. If you don't know what SkullCosm means, read this and it will explain it all.


• SimWorld, Inc. is a software company with a new product coming out in just one month. The product is called SkullCosm. It's a completely immersive, simulated environment in which players can interact in any number of ways. And by totally immersive, I mean that the environment is complete with sights, sounds, tastes, touch, smells . . . and something else. Something that wasn't planned.


• I based the company on one of my former employers, the way the development/QA departments interact on my current one, and the management style on a third employer from the past.


• I had fully intended today to be the day I went over my complete total from last year. Not my total during NaNoWriMo, which I passed several days ago, but the total I reached in February of this year when I finished the novel I started last year. I got to 92561 words. Ah, well. Sunday it is. :)


• Character names: Sarah, the QA manager doing routine tests of software; Stephanie, an RN & Psychologist who works for the company monitoring employees while they're immersed in the SkullCosm for testing or development; Zach, one of the developers.


• Interesting things I had to look up: Jungian psychology, zeitgeist, gestalt, collective unconscious, shadow men.


• Genre: Science Fiction with a touch of The Dark/Horror. You're stunned, I know.
