Notes:

• This morning at 5:12, I woke because of a noise that my housemate made while she was getting ready to go to school, and I tore both corneas. I yelled, "Crap!" and then spent about 30 minutes sitting in the dark letting tears run down my face. Finally, I was able to go back to bed to let it heal at least somewhat before I got up "for real" at 7:00. As a result, I could barely see. So I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to write much today. I had "Unicorn" for the word, but no real story. I came up with a name to use for the main character: Ulfric. Finally, I found a word that rhymed with "Talents" (I changed the name of yesterday's story): Imbalance. And thus I had my idea for the story.


• "U Is for Unicorn Imbalance" is complete at just 1826 words, making it my shortest short so far. I tried for a twist, and I'm not sure it works. I can fix it when I can focus both eyes again.


• I might have accidentally borrowed (read: stole) an idea from a friend of mine (rarelytame) who wrote an awesome unicorn story, but when I go through and rewrite, I'll make sure to change that aspect. I just didn't feel like doing it tonight.


• After I finished Unicorn, I went back and finished "R Is for Ritual Performed as a Test" at 4598 words. It ends kind of abruptly, but again, I can fix that in the rewrite.


• I could have gone on, but I just don't want to strain my eyes.


• I crossed the 100,000 word mark today, and changed my table above to go to 120,000 words. I believe that is the maximum number of words that the 'verification' process on the NaNoWriMo.org site can accept, so if I go above 120,000 words, it won't "count."


• Character names: Ulfric Yeager, Master Takashi.


• Interesting things I had to look up: Nothing. It came out of my head, except that part I may have stolen from rarelytame.


• Genre: Fantasy
