Notes:

• Ugh. I got up late because I couldn't get to sleep last night because of acid reflux. So I didn't have time to do my usual pre-work writing session. And then I got to work and it was nothing but interruptions interrupting the interruption that interrupted the thing I was trying to do. "Well, at least I'll have lunch," I thought. Not so. Because the café was closed today, the QA manager bought all the QA and Development people pizza. So I worked on code while eating pizza all through lunch. They told us we could leave at 2, but I wasn't done with something that had to be done by EOB today, and so I stayed until 5:00 to finish that. I still didn't have even one word written. Then I went home and packed up for the weekend at my mother's house. in the car, I tried to think of story ideas other than the vague one I had, and decided it was all wrong. So I changed the word so I would also have more luck with X tomorrow. When I finally made it to my mother's house, I typed 1053 words being interrupted every couple of minutes. So, yeah. No writing for me, today. I've begged for some time to do so tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday.


• "W Is for Waste" - To say that it's 'unfinished' is an understatement the size of the entire universe. Those 1053 words were hard-won, and I hate every 'a,' 'an,' and 'of.' But at least it's the start of an outline for something that might turn into something resembling the idea I had in the car on the way here.


• The idea borrows heavily from Babylon 5, and it does so unabashedly. So there.


• The title "Waste" refers to 1) "I wasted my whole life." 2) "He's a waste of DNA."


• Character names: Jim Williams a.k.a. Frank(ie) Caruso.


• Interesting things I had to look up: Like I could look anything up.


• Genre: Science Fiction
