Notes:

• We had some issues at work, today. A production server I’m primarily responsible for went offline for several hours and I basically had to wait for our Network guys to get them (and others that also had problems) back online. Between that and me having lunch at work instead of leaving the office added up to me having no time for writing during the day.

Then, this evening, The Forum Writers had our first of three holiday gatherings and socialized over dinner at Mambo’s Italiano, consuming delicious Italian food and decadent desserts. So that was my evening.

So, yeah. Not so much on the whole ‘writing’ thing today.

However, on the Codex forum, I asked a question about alternate history, giving a sketchy description of what I’m doing, and one of the people put some excellent questions up, most of which I was already addressing (!!!), but a couple of which I’ve been pussy-footing around. To wit: If magic is only recently “out,” then how did people who could do magic act amongst themselves prior to that, and how was it that non-believers would still be able to convince themselves of the non-existence of magic if they saw it performed right in front of them. So what I did was I just kind of rambled on these topics tonight, not even trying to make a narrative. They’re very good questions, and they require some thought.

Not that the answers to this will ever appear in my books directly. But if I know the answers, not only will that knowledge affect how I tell the story, if someone ever does ask me, I can answer. :)

The only things I looked up today were IP addresses for servers. (Work related.) But I’m glad the folks on Codex read my question and responded because it triggered some good ponderin’ on my part.
