I mentioned a while back that I no longer just get songs stuck in my head: I get medleys.

Today's medley is on its second day. It's The Flower Duet from the opera Lakme by French composer Delibes + Bali H'ai from the Broadway musical South Pacific by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Now, what in the name of bloody fishsticks do these two pieces of music have in common? I shall tell you:

Both have been sung (and sung decently) by Charlotte Church.

But here's the weird part: the versions stuck in an endless cycle in my head are not the Charlotte Church versions. :)

Go ponder that one for a while.

As a Fishstick, I can answer. *nods*

It's very simple, really. It's self-depravation. You *want* to hear some Charlotte Church, but somewhere in your psyche, you're not allowing yourself to. You're punishing yourself for something.

*coughs*

It's hard living in a Fishstick mind, innit?

;o)

Talk about weird! I've been sitting here singing (not humming, singing) "Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner" I have definitely lost it!

Yiii. Having sung one of the solo parts of the Flower Duet last year in my chorus, I'm intimately familiar with it... and will now have it stuck in my head all night. Sigh. =)
